Diabetes Handbook Online

Diabetic like other people have accidents, appendicitis varicose veins piles and other disorders and may have to have surgery at some time in their lives. There is nothing to fear from this although the management of the surgery of a diabetic is complicated. Surgery is a form of shock to the body and therefore demands more energy for the body cells to enable them to repair themselves properly afterwards. Thus the diabetic is given glucose before the operation and later sufficient insulin to control the blood sugar by the same means.
